SORRENTO : Sorrento is a village on the Naples coast in Italy famous for the lemon trees and the liqueur Limoncello. Arriving in the harbor you can reach the village by a lift which takes you on a big terrace. The landscape you can admire from here is unforgettable and spectacular including the dead volcano Vesuvio and the Naples coasts.
POSITANO : Dramatic, deluxe and more than a little dashing, Positano is the Amalfi Coast's in Italy front-cover splash, with vertiginous houses tumbling down to the sea in a cascade of sun-bleached peach, pink and terracotta, smart restaurants and fashionable retailers. Thanks to the mild temperature and the beauty of the landscape, Positano has been a holiday resort since the time of the Roman Empire, as evidenced by the discovery of a villa in the bay. Typical are the many staircases that from the top of the village connect the upper districts with the valley area.
AMALFI : The most important center in the Amalfi Coast in Italy, Amalfi is surrounded by dramatic cliffs and coastal scenery. The town of Amalfi was the capital of the Maritime Republic known as the Duchy of Amalfi and now has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. At the top of a staircase, Saint Andrew's Cathedral (Duomo) overlooks the Piazza Duomo, the heart of Amalfi. The cathedral dates back to the 11th century. The Amalfi coast is famed for its production of Limoncello liqueur and the area is a known cultivator of lemons.
CAPRI : Capri in Italy is seriously beautiful and is worth visiting. There’s barely a grubby building or untended garden to blemish the splendour. The famous Faraglioni rise majestically from an impossibly blue sea; elegant villas drip with wisteria and bougainvillea; even the trees seem to be carefully manicured. Long a preserve of celebrities and the super-rich, this small, precipitous island off the west end of the Sorrento Peninsula has a tangible deluxe feel.Visit the Blue Grotto and watch the amazing colour of the water as the sunlight hits the caves or enjoy the ambience at Marina Piccola. Relive erstwhile poetic glories in Villa Lysis. Find a quiet space in the sinuous lanes of Anacapri. In the process, you’ll enjoy some sublime moments.
PROCIDA : The Bay of Naples’ smallest island is also its best-kept secret. Off the mass-tourist radar, Procida in Italy is like the Portofino prototype and is refreshingly real. The real impressive pastel-colored house perched on the hills and the small harbor where time seems to have stopped make of Procida a suitable holiday destination. If you have the time, Procida is an ideal place to explore on foot. The most compelling areas (and where you will also find most of the hotels, bars and restaurants) are Marina Grande, Marina Corricella and Marina di Chiaiolella.
ISCHIA : Ischia in Italy, the largest island in the bay of Naples is one of the most popular holiday destination in Italy. Explore the island’s 34km of volcanic coastline and views of Capri. An early colony of Magna Graecia, first settled in the 8th century BC, Ischia today is famed for its thermal spas, manicured gardens, striking Aragonese castle and straightforward Italian airs – a feature also reflected in its food and wines. Most visitors head straight for the north-coast towns of Ischia Porto, Ischia Ponte, Forio and Lacco Ameno. Enjoy its thermal waters and spas, mountains and hidden coves.
